You play as a heroic female trying to free her city from a corrupt government, but surprisingly, the game environment is not dark or "evil" seeming in any way. There is only one case in the game were, for a moment, minor gore can be seen when you arrive at the site of a level, in a cutscene. The violence is not bad at all, though there are cases where police and guards are shooting at you, and you do have to defeat several enemies (with either hand-to-hand combat or firepower) the blood is not an issue. There is only one case when the word S**t is heard, and several minor cases where d**n, and a** are heard. The great detail in visuals, combined with the quality of sound and realist feel of the gameplay really enhance the game. I purchased this game on my 12th birthday, and found it to be fantastic. Overall one of the best games around and a must-have for Parkour fans. This is what Mirror's Edge focuses on, making it a unique and exciting game. Skills such as jumping, climbing, vaulting, rolling, swinging and wall scaling are employed." (Wikipedia). " Parkour is a non-competitive, physical discipline of French origin in which participants run along a route, attempting to negotiate obstacles in the most efficient way possible, using only their bodies. Parkour is a French sport founded by David Belle. Parkour is the sport of getting from A to B as quickly as possible. Parkour is similar to free-running except it expels useless show-off stunts in favour of getting to your destination asap.
One last thing i want to set straight is that the game focuses on Parkour (not free-running). However, frequent checkpoints make this a bit more bearable. The game is difficult and requires a lot of trial-and-error to master things. There is some language in the game, with a dozen or so instance of s-t, d-n etc. While this is hard, it can be done, it just requires a bit of forethought. The game also rewards you if you can manage to play through the entire story without using a gun. The gunplay though is not an integral part of the game and, hence, is not very fluid. However, the game does allow you to disarm opponents or pick up a fallen enemies gun. The game contains some violence, mostly melee where you kick and punch opponents. The game is played from the first-person perspective, but is not a shooter. Mirror's Edge is an awesome new take on the first-person genre.
